Becoming’s Wheel of the Year aligns the lunar and solar calendars.  Dark of Winter is our celebration of the darkest moment of the year — when the Winter Solstice aligns with the dark moon.  (or as close as we can get to it!)

Join us for our Dark of Winter celebration, and embrace the darkness.  Dark of Winter for us is a cosmic time out.  It the middle of the flurry that seems to be December, we give ourselves a moment to stop.  We give ourselves a moment to align our bodies and spirits with the slowing of the season.  We embrace the dying of the light so we can truly enjoy it’s return.

Dark of Winter falls generally falls on a Saturday or Sunday nearest the Solstice and Dark Moon in December.  This event is generally open to the public, but please check the calendar for specific information.

Life. Death. Rebirth. This Samhain we walk through the veils between the worlds to face our fear of change, transition, death. Through our journey we are blessed, strengthened and reborn into community.

Gathered around the sacred fire, we will ask for guidance before the Messenger takes each participant on a personal journey through the Unknown to Mystery.

The ritual will start as close to 7:00pm as possible. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 6:15pm and no later than 7:00pm.

This event will be outdoors, and it may take three hours for everyone to make the journey. We recommend dressing warming and in layers and wearing sturdy, weather resistant shoes. There will be some walking over uneven ground in the dark, but you will be guided throughout the ritual.

There will be a potluck celebration afterward.

People between 7 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent, although they may choose to take the journey by themselves or with their parent. No children under 7 should attend this ritual.
